Savvy agents will often affiliate with a national brand and create a personal brand.
The national brand creates a sense of security for buyers and sellers, resulting in more people willing to do business with you. The personal brand sets you apart from the crowd, enabling people to remember you.
The national real estate brands are well-known: Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA, and, of course, RE/MAX. Personal brands reflect your personality or link you to a geographic area.
Here are some good ones I've heard: "Island Eddie," "Downtown Dan," and "The Real Estate Doctor." Can you be successful without a national or personal brand? Of course. The primary determinants of your success are your own integrity, intelligence and hard work.
Will a brand rescue your career if you don’t have the other essential ingredients? Not a chance. But a good agent who also has a national brand affiliation and a memorable personal brand will always have a competive advantage. No matter how good you are, more people will be willing to work with you and remember you if you put the power of a brand to work for you.
